Stoney Bracelets
Since 2019 we have been making handmade gemstone bracelets for 20,000+ customers. Every stone is selected by hand in our own atelier.

This is the gift you give when you're not looking for something nice, but for something good. A luxury Christmas gift for a man, with us, isn't about a bigger logo or a more expensive box, but about the stone itself: where it comes from, how much of it is usable, and what you see of that on his wrist. Our premium collection holds a handful of stones that sit at the top, and each time there's a concrete reason for it.

Three bands, one wrist. The difference between entry level and the top is in the sorting, not the shape.

The most expensive bracelet we make from stone alone

Black labradorite costs 50 euros. That makes it the most expensive bracelet in our range made entirely of natural stone, without silver beads pushing the price up. Everything you pay for it is in the material and in what drops out during sorting.

Black Labradorite
Hardness Mohs 6 to 6.5
Family Feldspar
Feature Schiller

On its own, labradorite is a fairly unremarkable dark grey stone. What makes it special is an optical effect: at the right angle of light, blue, green or gold lights up from inside the bead. That effect isn't equally strong in every bead, and that's exactly where the price comes from. Want to know more about how that works optically? Read the explanation in larvikite versus labradorite.

What you pay for with a schiller stone In a batch of labradorite, part of the beads is simply dark grey. The flash isn't in them and won't come into them. We set those beads aside, and the bracelets that remain are made from the part that does carry the effect. That sorting loss is the reason this stone comes in above fifty euros and a lava stone at thirty.

What makes a stone expensive, and what doesn't

There's a difference between a bracelet that's expensive because of the processing and a bracelet that's expensive because of the stone. We wrote about the first earlier in the Sinterklaas gift for a man. This is about the second: properties of the material that no production choice can compensate for.

01
Limited origin
Some stones come from a handful of regions in the world. Lapis lazuli is the classic example, labradorite and larvikite come from a similarly narrow area. Few sources mean little control over the purchase price.
02
Colour you can't order
With aquamarine, the batch decides the shade, not the order. You can't ask for half a tone deeper blue. If you want a consistent colour across a whole bracelet, you have to buy far more beads than you use.
03
An effect that isn't in the whole batch
Schiller, chatoyancy and druzy crystals are only in part of the beads. The rest is material of the same stone without the feature you want to show. That part drops out.
04
Losses when drilling
Harder and more brittle stones lose more beads when the stringing hole is drilled. Aquamarine, at Mohs 7.5 to 8, is at the hard end of our range, and you see that back in the price. See also the Mohs hardness of our stones.

The five at the top

These are the stones in our range that come in above forty euros without silver. None of these five is an impulse buy, and for a Christmas gift that's more of an advantage than an objection.

Black
Labradorite
Black Labradorite 50 euros
Dark grey to black with a blue-green flash that only appears with movement. Quiet at rest, striking as soon as he moves his hand. For the man who doesn't seek attention but appreciates it when someone notices.
Labradorite bracelets
Aquamarine
Aquamarine 48 euros in 8mm
Light blue and clear, the hardest stone we carry. In 6mm it costs 45 euros. Lights up against a dark winter coat and is the only one of the five that also works well with a light outfit.
Gemstone bracelets
African
Turquoise
African Turquoise 46 euros in 8mm
Green-blue with a dark matrix that differs from bead to bead, naturally matte. In 6mm 44 euros. One of our most ordered stones and therefore the safest choice of the five if you don't know his taste.
African turquoise
Gold
Druzy Agate
Gold Druzy Agate 43 euros
Agate beads in which a cavity has been broken open so you look into the crystal. A rough surface between smooth beads, and the most outspoken of the five. For someone who already wears something and wants something that doesn't look like it.
Agate bracelets
Red
Tiger Eye
Red Tiger Eye 43 euros in 8mm
Deep red to brown with the streak of light that runs across the bead as it moves. In 6mm 40 euros. Red tiger eye is also among our most ordered stones, and it's warmer than the rest of this list.

Where silver comes into play

Above those five there's one level: the Superior and Silver+ lines at 59 euros. There the stone doesn't stand alone; handmade 925 sterling silver sits between the beads. Both lines are unisex. It's the highest we go in a single bracelet, and that's a deliberate limit.

The square silver beads are the only metal we use. No coating, no gilding.

Silver is the only metal we work with. Want to know what to look for with silver in jewellery in general? You'll find the checks in how to recognise real silver. The full line is in bracelets with silver and the Superior collection.

"At the top of the range we're stricter, not looser. Precisely because someone pays more for it, there can't be a single bead that drags the rest down."

What you get back for the difference

Stone Price Why it's at the top For whom
Black Labradorite 50 Sorting loss on the schiller flash Would rather wear nothing than something flashy
Aquamarine 48 Hard stone, colour per batch, drilling losses Wears light colours and shirts
African Turquoise 46 The matrix pattern has to be right on every bead Outdoors type, earthy colours
Gold Druzy Agate 43 Crystal cavities are only in part of the batch Already has something and wants something different
Red Tiger Eye 43 The light streak has to run in the same direction Wears brown, cognac or dark red
Superior and Silver+ 59 Handmade 925 sterling silver beads Wants the gift to look like a gift
Decision helper
What does he wear on his wrist now?

Start with African turquoise or black labradorite

A first bracelet should be wearable without thinking about it. These two are understated enough not to stand out and interesting enough to keep wearing. Choose 8mm if he has sturdy wrists, 6mm if he's unsure whether it's his thing.

Give the counterpart, not the same thing again

If he already wears something black, red tiger eye adds warmth without clashing. If he already wears something warm, black labradorite is the calm counterpart. Look at the bead thickness of what he already wears and stick to it, otherwise the proportion is off.

Christmas gift bracelets

Go for Superior, Silver+ or a set

Anyone who already stacks has the basics covered and doesn't need a sixth black band. A bracelet with silver beads at 59 euros or a set from 57 euros adds something he wouldn't buy himself. Gold druzy agate works here too, precisely because its surface differs from everything he already has.

What he wears now Strongest choice Why
Nothing at all yet African turquoise or black labradorite Understated enough to wear daily, no threshold to get used to

A stack of two or three Superior, Silver+ or a set Adds a level he wouldn't easily buy himself

Combinations that hold the level

An expensive stone next to a cheap one doesn't look expensive, it looks uneven. These three duos are actually ordered together most often with us, and they all hold the same level.

Green
x Black
African Turquoise x Obsidian Often ordered together
Matte green next to deep polished black. The contrast is in the finish, not the colour, which keeps it calm. Obsidian costs 35 euros, together you come to 81 euros.
Obsidian bracelets
Gold
x Red
Gold Tiger Eye x Red Tiger Eye Our strongest duo
The same stone type twice in a different colour range, so the light streak runs the same in both bands. The most ordered combination from our tiger eye family. Gold tiger eye costs 40 euros, together 83 euros.
Tiger eye bracelets
Blue
x Blue
Blue Tiger Eye x Matte Lapis Lazuli Often ordered together
Polished steel blue against matte deep blue. Works for the man who wears navy and for whom black is too harsh. Blue tiger eye 40 euros, matte lapis lazuli 38 euros, together 78 euros.

Beyond the single bracelet: sets and necklaces

If you want to go higher than 59 euros, with us that's not through a more expensive bracelet but through more pieces. Our sets range from 57 to 109 euros and contain two or three matched bracelets, so he doesn't have to combine them himself. That's also the most gift-like thing we make.

We also have necklaces. They cost 70 euros, are all made in 6mm and available in 50 and 60 cm, with 5 cm of adjustment. They're not elastic but strung with a clasp. For a man who already wears bracelets, that's often the only logical next step.

Necklaces in 6mm, with clasp and adjustment. The highest price point in the range.

Size is more precise with a bracelet than with a necklace. We work with fixed sizes, Small to X-Large in 8mm and Small to Large in 6mm, so you don't need to measure, but guessing doesn't pay either. The size chart and the explanation of 6mm or 8mm sort that out in two minutes.

How it arrives

  • Every bracelet comes in a matte black gift box with gold foil, a cushion and a care card. There's nothing you need to add.
  • From 50 euros shipping within the Netherlands is free; for Belgium, Germany and Austria the threshold is 70 euros. At this price level you'll almost always reach it.
  • Exchanges are free, even if it's only about the size. With a gift, that's the most important reassurance.
  • Returns are possible within 30 days. A restocking fee of 5 euros per bracelet applies, and return shipping is at your own cost.
  • Don't order in the last week before Christmas. The December rush is predictable; the risk you take doesn't have to be.

What we're honest about

We don't sell gold or leather, and we don't engrave. Our stones aren't certified as an investment, because that market doesn't exist for beads like these. We deliberately don't go above 59 euros with a single bracelet, because above that you mainly pay for a name and no longer for wearing value. What you do get is natural variation: no two bracelets are identical, not even within the same stone type.

Our pick

If you're not sure, African turquoise at 46 euros is the safest of the five: matte, earthy, widely worn and rarely a miss. If you want the gift to look like a gift, go for Superior or Silver+ at 59 euros or a set. And if he has never worn anything on his wrist, choose 6mm instead of 8mm. Getting used to it is easier than standing out.

Frequently asked questions

What's the most expensive item you carry?+
A single bracelet goes up to 59 euros with us: the Superior and Silver+ lines with handmade 925 sterling silver beads. Of the bracelets made entirely of natural stone, black labradorite at 50 euros is the most expensive. If you want to go higher, that's through a set, which go up to 109 euros, or a necklace at 70 euros.
Why does one natural stone bracelet cost 50 euros and another 28?+
Almost always because of what drops out during sorting. With a stone that has an optical effect, like the schiller of labradorite or the light streak of tiger eye, that effect isn't in every bead. What doesn't make the cut goes out, and that loss is in the price. Limited origin and losses when drilling also play a part.
Is a more expensive stone also stronger?+
Not automatically. Price and hardness don't rise together. Aquamarine, at Mohs 7.5 to 8, is the hardest stone we carry and is indeed at the top of the price list, but labradorite is at Mohs 6 to 6.5 and costs even more. Hard also doesn't mean unbreakable: harder stones are often more brittle.
Which size should I choose if I can't ask?+
We work with fixed sizes: Small to X-Large in 8mm and Small to Large in 6mm. For an adult man, Large in 8mm is the most chosen combination. Exchanging sizes is free, so a wrong estimate isn't a problem. Our size chart explains how to estimate per size.
Does it arrive gift-ready?+
Yes. Every bracelet is delivered in a matte black gift box with gold foil, including a cushion and care card. There's nothing you need to add. We don't engrave, so the personal touch is in the choice of stone, not in text.
What if he doesn't like it?+
Exchanges are free, including for a different stone or size. If you want your money back, that's possible within 30 days, with a restocking fee of 5 euros per bracelet and return shipping at your own cost. So keep the box until after the holidays.
