A gift for him almost always falls into one of six categories. That sounds limited, but it's exactly what makes the choice so hard: from the outside the six look equally good, while on the points that really matter they are far apart. What he still does with it in March differs a lot per category.
This guide puts the six side by side on four criteria, names per category where it goes wrong, and then goes one level deeper into the category we work in ourselves. Prefer to see the range first? All men's bracelets are on one page, and for the holidays there's a separate Christmas gift collection.
The four criteria where it really gets stuck
Before you compare categories, you need to know on what. These are the four points where gifts for men fail in practice. They'll show up as columns in the comparison table in a moment.
Six categories side by side
Below are the six categories almost every gift for a man falls into, rated on the four criteria above. We sell one of them, and we have no interest in a table that hides that. Where a category scores better than ours, it simply says so.
| Category | What it's strong at | Where it goes wrong |
|---|---|---|
| Gadgets and tech | Instant impression, clear function, easy to find | He often has it already, or it's outdated in two years. Not very personal. |
| Drinks and delicacies | Almost never wrong, no size, can be shared | When it's gone, it's gone. Six months later nobody remembers what it was. |
| Grooming and fragrance | Daily use, well-groomed signal | Scent is the most personal choice there is and the hardest to guess for someone else. |
| Clothing and shoes | Visible, daily, personal if you know his style | The biggest size risk of all six, plus taste. Exchanging is almost standard. |
| Experience and outing | Delivers a memory instead of an object | Costs him space in his calendar. Works poorly if he's busy or has to plan it together. |
| Jewellery with meaning | Visible every day, small size risk, lasts for years | Only a hit if he wants to wear something on his wrist. If he never wears anything, skip this one. |
A bracelet is not a universal answer. If he never wears anything on his wrists, has a strong preference for metal only, or works with his hands in a way where jewellery gets in the way, then one of the other five categories is simply the better choice. We also don't sell gold or leather, and we don't engrave. That's the honest line of where we do and don't fit.
If it becomes jewellery: four kinds of bracelet
If you land on the sixth category, the next comparison starts. A men's bracelet is not one product but four different things, and they ask for different decisions. Here too: we make one of them.
| Kind | Suits | Watch out |
|---|---|---|
| Leather bracelet | Casual, outdoor, a slightly rougher style | Wears visibly and struggles with water and sweat. We don't carry this. |
| Steel link bracelet | Classic, business, anyone already wearing a steel watch | The clasp makes the size critical. Taps audibly against a watch. |
| Silver bracelet | Understated, timeless, anyone who prefers metal to stone | Tarnishes over time and needs care. See the bracelets with silver. |
| Natural stone bracelet | Anyone who wants colour and texture without it standing out as jewellery | Every stone has its own pattern, so no two are identical. See the gemstone bracelets. |
Where natural stone beats the other three is size risk. Our bracelets are strung on elastic in fixed sizes from Small to X-Large, so you don't need to measure anything or guess to the millimetre. Torn between two sizes? The size chart takes two minutes. Bead thickness mainly decides the proportion: 6mm looks finer, 8mm sturdier, and which of the two suits him we explain in the article on bead diameter.
A gift should fit without anyone asking about it beforehand. That's why we work with elastic and fixed sizes, not with a clasp you have to guess to the millimetre.
From the atelierThree questions that decide the category
Answer the question closest to him. The outcome points a direction, not a product. Below the decision helper you'll find the same outcome as a plain table, for anyone who prefers to see it all at once.
Jewellery with meaning
The size risk is small and you know he'll wear it. Look at what he already wears: if he has a watch, choose a stone that doesn't compete with the case.
To the men's braceletsGrooming, drinks or an experience
Don't force jewellery on someone who wears none. A gift he doesn't put on scores zero on all four criteria, however beautiful it is.
Read the gift guide firstSomething with a story instead of a function
With a man who has everything, you lose on function and win on meaning. A stone with a cultural background gives you something to tell with it.
Stones and their backgroundA set or a gift card
If you don't know his taste, choose something neutral in dark tones or let him choose himself. Black, grey and steel blue clash with almost nothing.
To the bracelet sets| What you know about him | Direction |
|---|---|
| Already wears something on his wrist | Jewellery with meaning, choose a stone that doesn't clash with his watch |
| Never wears jewellery | Grooming, drinks or an experience. Don't force jewellery. |
| Already has everything | Something with a story instead of a function |
| Taste barely known | A set in neutral tones or a gift card |
What most often goes into one box together
When two bracelets are ordered at once, they're usually the same pairs. Below are three duos that consistently show up side by side in our orders, with the reason they work.
Matte Moon
Red Tiger Eye
Polished Obsidian

The short version
The six categories differ less in price than in what they still are six months later. That criterion is the one most quickly skipped when choosing, while it's the first thing noticed when wearing.
If he already wears something on his wrist, a natural stone bracelet is the strongest of the six on all four criteria: visible every day, small size risk, lasts for years and says something about him rather than his calendar. If you don't know his taste, start with matte and polished obsidian together. If he never wears anything on his wrists, choose one of the other five categories without hesitation. A gift he doesn't put on is no gift.
